For <\/span>Consuela Harris<\/b>, mother of <\/span>Devine Coates<\/b>, the road has included challenges, growth, and unwavering commitment \u2014 both from her as a parent and from the Renoxx team. A New Chapter After High School<\/b><\/h3>\n

Consuela first discovered Renoxx Caregivers during Devin\u2019s transition out of high school. As part of the adult services process, she visited several provider options. What made Renoxx stand out?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBecause it was a home,\u201d she shared. \u201cMost of the other places were just houses. I didn\u2019t want it to feel like just a transition. Renoxx felt like a home \u2014 a real place of comfort.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

This sense of environment and belonging made Renoxx the right fit for Devine at a critical time in his development.<\/span><\/p>\n

Years of Commitment \u2014 and a Detour<\/b><\/h3>\n

Devine has been with Renoxx for <\/span>six years<\/b> through the <\/span>DDA (Developmental Disabilities Administration)<\/b> program. While his first two years went smoothly, a shift in placement to another location overwhelmed him, leading Consuela to take on the role of Devine\u2019s <\/span>full-time home caregiver<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite the challenge, Renoxx never gave up on Devine. In fact, the dedication of staff like <\/span>Mr. Abu<\/b> remained unwavering.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cEven after Devine attacked him once, Mr. Abu still came back,\u201d said Consuela. \u201cHe gives me a break on weekends and takes Devine out \u2014 even though he works all week. He didn\u2019t have to do that, but he did. That really meant a lot.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

That ongoing support and flexibility helped rebuild trust and allowed Devin to stay connected to Renoxx\u2019s care ecosystem \u2014 even after stepping away from full-time programming.<\/span><\/p>\n

Support That Feels Personal<\/b><\/h3>\n

Throughout her journey, Consuela has felt seen and supported by the staff \u2014 even when times were hard.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMs. Yvonne helps out when something happens, and there’s a tall woman \u2014 I wish I remembered her name \u2014 who always picks up the phone and calls me back. That means everything,\u201d she explained. \u201cCommunication is so important. And if I can\u2019t reach someone, I know I can email Mr. Law, and he always responds.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The care extends beyond the weekdays, with several team members including Mr. Abu \u2014 stepping up on weekends to help provide Consuela with well-deserved breaks.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAfter doing this seven days a week for six years, you need rest. Sundays are a blessing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Devin\u2019s Progress and the Road Ahead<\/b><\/h3>\n

While Consuela has taken on the responsibility of documenting Devine\u2019s care hours as a home caretaker, she continues to see signs of improvement.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s calmer now. He used to have breakdowns and lash out \u2014 not anymore. Something happened that triggered him before, but even now, he doesn’t attack like he used to.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Three Words to Describe Renoxx<\/b><\/h3>\n

When asked to describe her experience in just three words, Consuela thoughtfully responded:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cGrateful. Knowledge. Respect.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n

These words speak to the appreciation she feels, the understanding she\u2019s received, and the mutual respect that has defined her relationship with Renoxx staff over the years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Advice for Other Families<\/b><\/h3>\n

Consuela has already recommended Renoxx to other families \u2014 and she encourages others to do their part to make the most of the services offered:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIf something goes wrong, speak up. Send that email. Make sure you’re heard. Communication matters.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She also emphasized the importance of responsive systems, suggesting improvements for how hours are logged and how timely caregiver communication could be enhanced.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Story of Persistence and Partnership<\/b><\/h3>\n

For the Coates family, Renoxx has provided more than just services \u2014 it has offered partnership, patience, and people who care deeply. Through highs and lows, the commitment remains strong.<\/span><\/p>\n
